SEEDORF: AJAX MAJOR HONOURS REVEALED

Clarence Seedorf began his professional career with Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam as a teenager and he was one of many young players in the Ajax team that saw off a more experienced AC Milan side in the 1995 Champions League final to win the competition under the guidance of Dutchman Louis Van Gaal.


Patrick Kluivert was the hero for Ajax Amsterdam as he scored late in the game to propel Ajax Amsterdam to a 1-0 win in the final at the expense of an AC Milan side who came into the game as defending champions. Clarence Seedorf was an important player during the golden generation at Ajax Amsterdam in the 90s under the guidance of Dutch tactician Louis Van Gaal. Football legend Clarence Seedorf has suggested that some players need to start getting sanctioned for certain of the actions they exhibit on the pitch of play. He said he would like to see that there is a penalty for players who cover their mouth when they want to talk to opponents on the field, as the penalty would help curb cases of racism. In a particular UEFA Europa League match between Slavia Prague and Rangers, it was reported that one of the Slavia players, a defender, allegedly abused an opposition player from the Rangers team racially. Dutch football legend Clarence Seedorf has revealed that he had serious interest from three English teams during his playing career. The ex-Real Madrid and AC Milan player made the revelation while he was speaking to journalist Ben Haines who worked for 90min as he looked back on his illustrious career as a professional footballer. The 44-year-old spent the majority of his career in Italy and also had spells in Spain and Brazil. His professional career started in his native Netherlands as the member of the golden generation at Ajax Amsterdam. Clarence Seedorf was part of the youthful Ajax Amsterdam side that stunned AC Milan in the 1995 Champions League final to win the much coveted European trophy.

He told Ben Haines that the Premier League trio of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United tried to sign him while he was still playing professional football. Clarence Seedorf said that he almost signed for an English club three times before he opted to make a different decision. Read more »
