Clarence Seedorf Says His Squad Is Open To Everyone

Clarence Seedorf, the coach of Cameroon said his squad is open to any player regardless of where they would play. He made this comment when Benjamin Moukandjo took retirement from his international football. As soon as Moukandjo retired, Seedorf added Christian Bassagog in the list of latest games to be played against Malawi. Seedorf explained saying they follow every player and see a lot of potentials there. They try to get the best players for his club as per Seedorf. They are not the best only in terms of skills but also are motivated and understand the depth of playing for the nation. Each and every player should be happy and play for Cameroon with pride said, Seedorf.

The latest matches are considered as 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers however not in the case of Indomitable Lions as they have been qualified as hosts automatically. Seedorf had drawn his first match with 1-1 last month with Comoros and has already done all it takes to build a team for the finals next year. There are some players who may be thinking that they can still give it some time until the 2019 AFCON but Seedorf won’t let that happen. He wants to build a strong and title-winning side and hence he said that the team is open to everyone. In addition, he also said he is talking with Joel Matip, the Liverpool defender on returning to the Indomitable Lions.

Seedorf Will Be On The Right Track With Cameroon

Clarence Seedorf was appointed by Cameroon in 4th August and it seems like a decision taken majorly by status and not by on-field factors. The 42-year-old did enjoy the football career that most of his peers envied about. He won 4 Champions League titles in addition to 5 major leagues. Many people talked about his lack of experience in the African game could make it a risky choice as Cameroon’s coach. Without Arnaud Djoum and Sebastien Siani, two of many high profile champions cut from the team. Choupo Moting did catch the eye in the forward line and Karl Toko Ekambi battled in replacement for Vincent Aboubakar who was injured. Ekambi has 3 goals in previous 4 seasons for FC Porto.

The team selections have also raised many questions as Seedorf redeemed his previous mistake to begin Gaetan Bong before Ambroise Oyongo by bringing the latter later on. It was Oyongo from Montpellier who ultimately offered assistance for the equalizer of Bahoken, while Bong did tolerate a tough time. He represented a sensitive presence during pressure and offered not much going forward. Cameroon’s performance was a reminder of how the coach should have made efforts to recall some of the best stars of the squad. Ultimately, Seedorf was impressed with the way things turned out and shared his views.

Cristian Chivu

Cristian Chivu is one of the celebrated names in Romania football after the defender went on to make it big with the likes of Roma and Inter Milan. The defender recently retired from football after failing to recover from a spate of injury problems in the last few years. However, he has not done so without winning major titles in his career. In fact, Chivu may just be the most remembered name in recent football history of Romania after the star lifted several titles including the Champions League and at least five Italian Serie A titles.

Chivu was a regular in the Romanian national team when he played for them between 1999 and 2010. This helped him get 75 caps and also three goals from these matches at international level. The celebrated success came in the club football. After representing Ajax, Roma, and Inter Milan, he lifted a whopping 13 different titles. He was also named in the Romanian footballer of the year on three occasions. Following the conclusion of his stellar playing career, the possibility of getting into football punditry or management beckoned the 33-year-old. It seems that he has chosen the managerial route.

He says that he would be willing to become a coach in the near future and is currently looking at the prospects of doing so. “I had been thinking in these recent months of becoming a coach because I miss certain things like the locker room and the smell of the field. I’ll see what I want to do in the future, but the idea of becoming a coach has been teasing me a lot,” said the defender, who can recall the experience from working with some of the top managers in the world like Jose Mourinho and Roberto Mancini. It remains to be seen if he will start his coaching career in Romania.

Real Madrid Due To Face Sevilla

Real Madrid will be taking on Sevilla in highly anticipated UEFA Super Cup clash on Tuesday. The match will take place at Cardiff City’s Millennium Stadium where Madrid winger Gareth Bale has played on several occasions for the national team. As a Welshman, return to the stadium is highly emotional for the 24-year-old winger. However, he has been backed by several pundits to deliver. Ahead of the match, he has spoken about the desire to win all six trophies on offer this campaign. He has been included in the squad for the match as has been Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese superstar will be looking to put behind his disappointment at the World Cup 2014. Portugal were knocked out of the group stages with Ronaldo much criticised for his poor performances. The 29-year-old managed only one goal in the three group matches. Ronaldo is no stranger to winning UEFA Super Cups after having done so at Manchester United in 2008. Along with Ronaldo and Bale, manager Carlo Ancelotti has also include a new marquee signing James Rodriguez in the squad. The Colombian international was signed by Real Madrid for £ 71 million to make him the fourth most expensive player in the world.

It is expected that Madrid will use a unique formation to harness their attacking potential. “These matches at the start of the season are different, neither team is at full fitness and we’ll certainly see more chances than there are in a European final. I hope it’s an attractive match and that Madrid win,” said Madrid defender Arbeloa. Ahead of the match, manager Carlo Ancelotti also dismissed transfer rumours surrounding midfielder Sami Khedira, only has 12 months left on his contract. The German international has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea, although Arsene Wenger said that he did not know the origin of these transfer rumours.

EARLY PROMISE DISAPPEARS

The early promise that seemed to appear after the appointment of Clarence Seedorf has managed in recent weeks after the club has suffered back-to-back defeats in important competitions. After the league defeats at the hands of Juventus and Udinese, Milan were hoping to at least get into the quarter-finals of the Champions League since it would have been rewarding financially. The club are anyway about to lose their record of having appeared in any form of European football for more than a decade. They will be without even Europa league football next season, but an appearance in the quarter-final of the Champions League this season will be enough to sustain the club going forward.

However, they have failed to do so after suffering a 5-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid. The Italians came into the match trailing 1-0 from the first leg, but they conceded a goal in the second minute to destroy Seedorf’s plans. They went on to lose 4-1 with only Kaka scoring the consolation goal for Milan. After this disappointment, progress will return to the league, as Milan will be seeking a strong into the season. They will be up against an inform Parma team and this will be a very difficult encounter according to Seedorf.

“It’ll be a tough match tomorrow as we’ll be up against a team in form. We’ll give everything to get into Europe, working game by game and we have 11 matches to get to that objective. The team is focused and the players are ready to give 100%. If we had won the home match against Juventus of the Champions League match against Atletico, something would have changed, especially for the players who are in a delicate situation. We’ll keep working with enthusiasm to get out of this situation,” said Seedorf.

AC IN CRISIS

Ac.Milan’s crisis sees the Italian team fighting in the Serie A in the middle section of the tables and having made a series of major changes in the club including a switch of coaches as Massimiliano Allegri was fired and Clarence Seedorf was appointed as the new head coach.

There even were rumors involving Adriano Galiani wanting to leave the club after having problems with Barbara Berlusconi as well as having a number of players entering and departing the Italian club.

The situation could even be seen just by looking at the players themselves and this was the case during Ac.Milan’s match against Napoli when Mario Balotelli was substituted and replaced by Pazzini. The former Manchester City started shedding tears as he was unable to help his team overcome Napoli and get them out of their situation.

1 week later Balotelli would score the only goal of Ac.Milan’s match against Bologna as the Italian attacker scored with a long range shot that gave his team the crucial victory.

The new coach of Ac.Milan, Clarence Seedorf praised the work of Balotelli as he even said that he will become a champion someday.

“It’s the kind of goal Mario knows how to score, as he has these weapons in his armory,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “The great thing is that the team continues to believe in the result, as you don’t score goals like that unless you believe.”

“People like to take my words out of context. I didn’t say Mario isn’t a champion, but that he will become a champion. I believe in him a great deal and I believe in the man he is becoming. I only think positive things towards him. What position do I like him best in? I like Balotelli. He can play on the right or the left.”
