READING, STOKE IN SEEDORF RACE

English Championship clubs Stoke City and Reading are in the race to sign Sherwin Seedorfwho is related to Dutch football icon Clarence Seedorf. As reported by Football Insider, Reading and Stoke City want to sign the former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Motherwell winger this summer.


Sherwin Seedorf is a relative of Clarence Seedorf who’s a legend of Italian Serie A side AC Milan. Clarence Seedorf is the first and only player to win the Champions League title at three different clubs till date. He won the Champions League title at Ajax Amsterdam, Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Winger Sherwin Seedorf has been a free agent since he left Motherwell at the end of the 2020/21 season. He was unable tosign for a club during the just concluded season due to his injury problems. The 24-year-old is back to full fitness after seeing the end of his injury woes. To this effect, he’s available for a free transfer move this summer. The attacker is on the search for a new team this summer.

A recruitment source close to the aforementioned media portal said the Championship duo of Stoke City and Reading have a long-term interest in Seedorf. The two teams are looking at the loan market and the free transfer market for new signings to boost their squad during this summer’s transfer window. The Potters and the Royals have re-emerged as possible transfer destinations for Seedorf ahead of the start of the new Championship season which kicks off in a matter of weeks.

Seedorf graduated from the Feyenoord youth system before he signed for the Nike Academy in England six years ago. The winger signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers one year later, but didn’t make a single appearance for the club before signing for Scottish Premier League side Motherwell on a free transfer.
