SEEDORF: INTER LACK CLINICAL EDGE
Dutchman Clarence Seedorf has cast doubts over the ability of Inter Milan to record success this season after he revealed that the Nerazzuri lacked the necessary clinical edge. Clarence Seedorf talked about his former club in an exclusive interview with Italian newspaper Gazzettadello Sport ahead of the Milan Derby in the league this month.
On the current Inter and Milan teams, Clarence Seedorf said that Inter Milan have more quality players than their city rivals, but they don’t have the cutting edge that the Rossoneri possess. According to him, the Nerazzuri must learn to kill off games more swiftly than what’s obtainable at the moment.
For Milan, Seedorf said that the Stefano Pioli-led team try to impose their game on the opposition in addition to the fact that they like to defend higher up the pitch. He added that teams in Europe should adopt the style of defending higher up the pitch.
Hosts AC Milan and Inter Milan were almost inseparable when the two teams met in the Italian Serie A just before the current international break though the Nerazzuri could have won if they were more clinical and ruthless just as Clarence Seedorf stated.
Inter took the lead from the penalty spot through Turkish international HakanCalhanoglu after Milan midfielder Franck Kessie was adjudged to have brought him down in the box. He stepped up to score the resulting penalty. His goal was then cancelled out by a FikayoTomori header. Inter striker Lautaro Martinez then missed from a second penalty awarded to his team as he failed to convert the chance to give the Nerazzuri all the three points at stake. The two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
