SEEDORF PLAYS FOR BOTAFOGO

The former AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf scored his first goal for the Brazilian club Botafogo in the match against Goiana. The wonderful freekick helped the Botafogo club to get all three points from the match. Clarence Seedorf suffered a defeat in his first match as the Botafogo player.

However, this victory will go a long way into answering the questions regarding the ability of the 36-year-old midfielder to cope with the demands of Brazilian football. The former AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder recently made his move to the Brazilian league with Botafogo.

It was expected that he was moving for one final payday because he is on a huge contract with the Brazilian club. However, he demonstrated that he was more than worthy of the contract by scoring a wonderful 30 yard freekick that helped the club comeback from behind to get all three points. Clarence Seedorf was making his fourth appearance for the club and it looked like they were heading for another defeat, but the irresistible quality of the player proved the difference between the two clubs, as it helped them get renewed confidence to come back from going a goal down.

“It was nice to see the fans today [in Goiana], but I feel at home in Brazil. The reaction to my first goal has been great. I am happier with the victory than the goal. Dhe team was balanced. It was difficult, but we responded well. We pressed and quietened them down in the second half. We deserved the three points. We have more confidence now,” said the Dutch international after the match. As result of this victory, Botafogo have moved into the sixth position of the table after having played 14 matches so far. They are only a few points away from sealing the Copa Libertadores qualification spot.
