SEEDORF NETS TWICE

The former AC Milan, Real Madrid and Ajax midfielder Clarence Seedorf once again proved his worth for the Brazilian club Botafogo after scoring two goals in the match against Cruzeiro. Botafogo were coming into the match after having recently stopped the bad run of form with a 2-0 win over Coritiba. Prior to this match, Botafogo suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of São Paulo. It raised a lot of questions regarding the future of the Dutch midfielder, who at 36 years of age, was not getting any younger. However, he has been a source of inspiration for the team in the last three matches, which have all finished as victories for Botafogo.

Seedorf scored two goals in the match against Cruzeiro to give his team the third consecutive victory. Cruzeiro were coming into the match after having recently been given a six match ban for the crowd. The fans of the club were extremely violent in the match against Atletico Mineiro. Tinga gave Cruzeiro the lead in the match after just 20 min. However, it did not take long for Botafogo to get back into the match after they scored two goals through the former AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf.

The 36-year-old managed to score two goals within 2 min to give Botafogo the lead going into the half-time interval. He was also extremely influential in helping Botafogo score the third goal after he set up the pass that allowed Jadson to score. The 3-1 comfortable victory now means that the team are currently in the fifth position in the table with 37 points on the board. The leaders of the table, Fluminense have 53 points. Hence, the club can realistically look at the possibility of finishing in the third position, which is occupied by Gremio, this season.
